Josh Malerman has released his second book Black Mad Wheel.
The book focuses alternating chapters on Philip Tonka and his band the Danes, who met while serving in the US Army in WWII, and Ellen a nurse in Iowa.
Tonka and the band are struggling to get anywhere with their music when a government agent asks them to track down a mysterious sound in Africa’s Namib Desert. They do, only to find themselves part of a dark conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Ellen has a mysterious patient who is recovering from life-threatening injuries, that he doesn’t remember receiving. This patient is also showing a remarkable physical recovery, as he slowly regains his memories.
How the two stories connect is only a part of the greater mystery that they all have become involved in.
